Geeta, belonged to very low income group of family. Due to financial crisis at her home, she couldn’t complete her education, hence she was not literate. Coming from an illiterate background Geeta always thought that she could not do any work apart from her household work of cooking and cleaning the house.

When Geeta joined the Krishna Mahila Swayam Sahayta Samooh of her village, she came across information which she never had earlier. She became aware of the health practices, agricultural techniques, and savings. She learned about women empowerment and poverty reduction.

In April 2018, Geeta got an opportunity to learn sewing from Vikas Bhavan free of cost. “I got very excited to learn stitching and sewing as it something that had my interest. After lots of practice and hard work, today I have my own sewing centre at my home”

Right now, 3 woman from self-help group and 18 young women come at her place for training.

“Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Vikas Pariyojna along with my Self Help Group not only enabled me to earn a living for myself but also helped me to earn love and respect of my family members. Now, I’m an independent empowered woman.”
