I 215. (May 11, 2019): Chandavati takes financial decisions at home:
No schooling, no land, no money! Lived in a mud house with husband and three children. Husband was a casual laborer. Moneylender was the only source for finance incase of emergency! She was a fully purdha clad shy woman in the village. Her major worry was education of children. That was Chandavati’s condition before she joined SHG in the year 2007. She hails from Chari ka Purva in Pahadpur Gram Panchayat of Amava block in Raebareli district. Name of her SHG is Manisha.
SHG under RGMVP had become a movement in her village. There are seven SHGs in her purva itself. She borrowed money from SHGs and invested wisely and today she is happy.
- First loan from SHG was Rs. 30, 000 with which she purchased a buffalo and started selling milk. It was a wise and practical decision for a lady.
- She availed about Rs. 50, 000 for educating her children. Her daughter is now doing BA final year.
- She availed Rs. 50,000 each on two occasions for the marriage and settling her two sons.
- She took Rs. 25,000 from SHG and runs a shop from which she earns about Rs 250 per day.
She has now two pucca rooms for stay. It is her financial decisions that led to the current well being in the household. She is thankful to the SHG for her empowerment.
