Ramjasi is a successful member of Ganga SHG under RGMVP in Fatteshahpur village of Babaganj block in Pratapgarh District. She has 5 members in her family comprising of herself, husband, wife, 2 sons and a daughter. Husband is working as casual labourer at a brick kiln. This family has just 3 bigha of land. Prior to joining the Self Help Group, she was very poor. After coming in to the SHG in 2014, her economic condition improved. SHG showed her a clear path for the economic development of the family.

She took loans from her SHG for different purposes as under:

  1. Rs 30, 000 for purchase of DJ band set as a self-employment activity to provide services for marriages and other functions
  2. Rs 25, 000 for purchase of buffalo as another livelihood activity.
  3. Rs 100,000 for purchase of a second hand Bolero vehicle for hire as transport vehicle for marriages etc.

Now, there are 4 income generation activities with the family i.e. DJ band set, sale of buffalo milk, income from hiring of Bolero and Agriculture. Daily average income of the family from these activities is between Rs. 1500 and Rs. 2000. Ramjasi is illiterate but after coming in to the group she has learned to put her signature. All three children are educated and the daughter is married after completing graduation. Family members of this Schedule Cast Category family  are living a happy life and economic empowerment is visible looking into the status of the family. Ramjasi house is an old mud house in  the village and her next step is construction of a brick house. She is very frank and forward in talking and she gives entire credit of her economic empowerment to her SHG, which is running well.
