Kiran’s progress out of poverty:

Kiran of Bhuraha village of Sangipur block in Amethi district was very poor. There were five members in her family i.e. husband, herself, a son, a daughter and mother in law. With just five biswa of land, the family’s economic condition was miserable. Their main concern was education of children. Kiran did not see any hope for their future. It was during these days of utter misery and hardship, she got the opportunity to join SHG under RGMVP in the year 2014. Her SHG name was Ekta. It gave her hope. After joining the SHG Kiran could avail loans from it for her needs.

  1. Rs 15, 000 towards purchase of pump set for irrigation of land.
  2. Rs 10, 000 for purchase of a buffalo.
  3. Rs 10, 000 for purchase of a milch cow.
  4. Rs 10, 000 for Agriculture.
  5. Rs 5, 000 for purchase of Agricultural inputs.

At present she has a buffalo and two cows, all in milching stage. She is supplying 15 to 20 litres of milk daily in Sangipur market.

Now from the above two income generation activities i.e. sale of milk and Agriculture, income of the family is between Rs 15, 000 and Rs 20, 000 per month!. Life of the family members has now become easy. SHG fulfilled her ambition of educating her children. Kiran is a graduate and her son is preparing for civil services after completing graduation. Daughter is studying for BA.

With the needed financial assistance from her group, a lot of transformation in the family status has taken place. Kiran is a good social worker and at present she is president of her group and also the village federation of SHGs in the village. She is a motivating force for other SHG   women. She gives credit of her happiness to her SHG, which is well operated.
