She is Kamla, a successful member of Gopal SHG in Nathupur village of Musafirkhana block in Amethi district. There are six members in the family of Kamla. The family has 1.5 bighas of land. Kamla was very poor before joining the group. After coming into the SHG, she has taken cumulative assistance of Rs 47000 from her group on six occasions for various activities as under:
- Rs 16, 000 for the purchase of a buffalo.
- Rs 10, 000 for agricultural activities on three occasions (Rs. 5000, Rs. 3000 and Rs. 2000)
- Rs 8, 000 for the purchase of a cow.
- Rs 13, 000 for the marriage of the sister of her husband.
There are now two income generation activities with the family i.e. agriculture and dairy. Husband supplies milk to the shops of adjoining market at Musafirkhana and thus dairy is the main activity. Family has come out of poverty and significant change has taken place in the status of family members. Kamla is educated up to 8th standard. She is deeply involved in social work and at present she is president of Vidya Mahila Gram Sangthan having 10 SHGs. All the SHGs of this VO are satisfactorily operated. Her all three children are school going. Kamla acknowledges that this transformation in her is because of her group. Her SHG was formed in 2008 and it is running well.
