I 226. (June 13, 2019):  Rajkumari – Freedom from moneylender and achieving financial security :

Rajkumari is a successful member of Vikas SHG in Kapoorpur village of Chhatoh block in Amethi district. She has seven members in the family i.e. husband, herself, three daughters, a son and mother in law. She had 1.75 bigha of land, which was pledged to a landlord moneylender. Thus the family was facing poverty. After coming in the group in 2012, she has taken following loans from the group:

  1. Rs 40, 000 for paying to the landlord moneylender redeem debt and take back her land. Now she is doing progressive cultivation on this land.
  2. Rs 18, 000 for purchase of a cow for selling milk.
  3. Rs 10, 000 for treatment.

From the surplus generated out of two income-generating activities, she has purchased a pushcart for selling fruits. Now, there are three income generation activities with the family i.e. sale of milk, cultivation and fruit shop.  There is significant improvement in the economic condition as a result of which family is now out of poverty. All her children are school going. She is illiterate but now she can sign. Entire family is happy, acknowledging the timely help in need from the group, which is satisfactorily operated.
