79. Sabina’s Success Story

My name is Sabina. I live in Mallapur, Easangar block in Lakhimpur Kheri district. I am 45 years old. I am a secretary in my self-help group. The name of my self-help group is Roshini Mahila. My village organization name is Ekta Mahila. I am a member of the group. My block organization’s name is Mamta Mahila. I am a co-secretary in that group.

When I was not involved in the self-help group, my situation was very bad, I and my family did not have enough to eat. We did not have any livelihood practices, there was no form of income generation. After joining the SHG, I took a loan of 5000 rupees from the group’s savings and I purchased one goat from that money. I repaid the money back by selling the milk that I got from the goat. The condition of my family started to improve gradually. Currently, I own 6 goats.

For the second time I borrowed a loan of Rs.2000, with that money I undertook agricultural practices, and the condition of my family improved a lot. I have 4 children, 2 girls and 2 boys. My 2 boys are married and working and my 2 girls are studying. Now, we have enough to eat as well as sell. I am so grateful to have joined my self-help group as it has brought immense happiness in my life as it gave me a lot of knowledge on agriculture, health, leadership, right and entitlements.
